The Planet of the Vapes Lobo Portable Vape Device

The Lobo from Planet of the Vapes (POTV) is a mid-range flower and concentrate vaporizer that promises a superior vapor experience but for a fraction of the price of its competitors.

And it’s true, if you skip ahead to the side-by-side comparison below, we compare the Lobo’s features against pricier vapes, like the Pax Plus and the Storz & Bickel Mighty+; this vape really stands up. The Lobo’s features are comparable, if not better, in many cases.

I have reviewed a lot of cannabis vaporizers, and the POTV Lobo stands out for its simplicity and ease of use without missing any of the core features you’d expect from a fancier portable vape. Think: helpful digital display, temperature control, and even pre-fillable dosing capsules.

It’s essentially everything I love in a piece of cannabis tech, without going overboard on wasted features.

After two months of enjoying this vape, it’s time to give it some love. Here is my complete real and honest review of the POTV Lobo.

Lobo Dry Herb Vape Key Features

Replaceable & Rechargeable Battery

The Lobo features a non-replaceable 3000 mAh internal battery with USB-C fast charging, allowing it to reach a full charge in about 90 minutes. This capacity provides long-lasting usage, estimated at approximately 60 minutes of continuous vaping per charge or about 10 sessions of regular use.

This all depends on how you usually vape, but this should last for multiple sessions without annoying recharges interrupting your schedule.

Glass Accessories

The Lobo is designed with high-quality glass components, including a borosilicate glass mouthpiece that preserves flavor. Other glass pieces you can upgrade with include a water pipe adaptor, curved mini bubbler, dimpled stem, globe glass, and more.

These help cool down the vapor to highlight all those terpenes you’re paying for. All these options make it fun to build out a kit and personalize every session to what you have packed in the chamber.

Affordable Price

Priced at $159.95, the Lobo delivers premium features (ex, precise temperature control, glass accessories, and hybrid heating) at an accessible cost.

Compared with other vapes with similar features, the Lobo is cheaper by at least $50, if not more. On price point, it definitely beats out higher-end models.

Maintenance is Easy

Cleaning and maintaining the Lobo is straightforward due to its removable glass mouthpiece and easily accessible heating chamber. The glass components are easy to clean with isopropyl alcohol, and the chamber is designed to minimize residue buildup.

Plus, it is also compatible with reusable dosing capsules. These fit a serving (or more) of flower and save the chamber from even the minimal resin that builds up in other vapes.

Unlike other herb vaporizers with this feature, these are metal and reusable; you don’t have to pay for any ongoing subscription.

Heat-Up Time

If you have experience with handheld vaporizers, you know that sometimes they can have a relatively lengthy heat-up time—sometimes, over a minute from when you turn it on to when it’s ready to puff. The POTV Lobo is ready in 40 seconds or less. This means you get to spend more time enjoying the session than waiting around for the vape tech to function.

Vape Experience

For a mid-tier vape under $200, the POTV Lobo produces an incredible flavor on every inhale. I think this is thanks to the glass mouthpiece. I have the POTV Globe Glass mouthpiece and the Dimpled Stem, but there are many other options. This helps cool down the vapor so I can taste what’s in the chamber. It’s smooth, cool, and delightful.

I also really appreciate not putting my mouth directly on the device. There have been a few recently that I have reviewed (looking at you, Zeus) that your lips sit right on the vape. While it’s not a make-or-break feature, it is nice to have some separation.

It feels cleaner, the vapor is better, and it’s less harsh on the back of my throat. The customizable glass pieces are like a throwback to glass culture, and I love it.

Easy Maintenance

The problem with many portable vapes is the ongoing need to clean them. Even if you stick to straight dry flower sessions, after a while, I’ve always found that the resin builds up. If you want to keep everything as clean and sanitary as humanly possible (and you should), you have to dedicate lots of time to cleaning with isopropyl alcohol.

This is where the Lobo really shines. It comes with handy reusable dosing capsules. These can be pre-filled for convenience, but they also ensure the Lobo’s chamber stays clean. Even after a month of regular toking, I’ve found that the main chamber has remained resin-free.

And because the dosing capsules are metal, you can easily submerge them in a small container of isopropyl when needed, then quickly swab clean.

Battery Life

One of the main reasons I fell in love with the Lobo was the battery life. Obviously, my vape session will vary in length and intensity from yours, but I was able to get 10 to 12 sessions a charge from this little device.

This is largely thanks to the replaceable 18650 Lithium Battery. It’s a quick charge, and it holds its charge. Plus, if you’ve purchased one of the many Lobo Accessory kits, you’ll also get a second battery. I tended to keep one in the charger and one in the vape so that I never ran dry.

Cannabis Tech Staff Perspective on the POTV Lobo

I get a lot of vapes to review, which is both a blessing and a curse (seriously, where do you store all these things?). But the Lobo from Planet of the Vapes is so good that it’s become a regular in my lineup. My partner loves it, too, so it’s definitely sticking around.

It stood out because it had the features I love and didn’t try to over-engineer the tech. It has easy-to-navigate settings and a bright LED display screen. You can set the temperature to target whatever phytochemical elements you want, and it’s super easy to clean.

These little dosing capsules make it painless to pre-fill when you have the grinder out and then have your sessions ready for the weekend. Plus, you don’t need to subscribe for more single-use products, a problem I’ve found with other dosing capsule-compatible vapes.

Lobo’s capsules are metal, easy to clean, and indefinitely reusable. They are also big enough for me to get a few sessions out of each. This was a nice change because so many systems like this have impossibly tiny servings that don’t cut it.

The only downside I could come up with is that the glass pieces make it less travel-friendly than other devices. Not to say it’s extremely fragile, but whenever glass comes into the picture, you do have to take more care when packing.

But, in the same breath, the glass pieces are actually one of the many features we like! They make each inhale smooth, cool, and flavorful. And where are we traveling with a vaporizer anyway?

Long Live Lobo! This vape is truly great.
