Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) again vetoed legislation to legalize recreational marijuana sales, claiming that the proposal “endangers Virginians’ health and safety.”
- The Virginia governor also rejected bills to provide resentencing relief for people still incarcerated for cannabis and to protect parental rights of marijuana consumers.
The American Rights and Reform PAC, a political action committee funded by the cannabis industry, released new ads attempting to appeal to President Donald Trump by claiming that the Biden administration and Democrats “classified” marijuana “as a dangerous narcotic” despite initiating rescheduling, and saying that “Canada is attacking American cannabis companies.”
The Drug Enforcement Administration is promoting an “Anti-420 Day” campaign that’s recruiting students to submit short videos warning their peers about marijuana use to “flood Instagram with anti-THC messages.”
Rep. Morgan Luttrell (R-TX) is cheering news that the Department of Defense is allocating nearly $10 million to support research on the therapeutic potential of MDMA for active-duty military members under legislation he championed.
The New Hampshire Senate Judiciary Committee held a hearing on several marijuana bills, including proposals to enact recreational legalization, allow medical cannabis homegrow, annul past records and let dispensaries incorporate hemp into products.
Minnesota representatives filed a bill to legalize possession and cultivation of psilocybin while also creating a psychedelics training program for first responders.
A new study on the environmental impact of marijuana finds that the industry “represents 1% of total national emissions from all sectors of the economy” but that a shift to outdoor cultivation “could trim emissions up to 76%.”

A study found that “an association was identified between patients with [hypermobility spectrum disorder/hypermobile Ehlers–Danlos syndrome] with chronic pain and improvements in pain-specific and general health-related quality of life following the commencement of” cannabis-based medicinal products.
